Handrails are to be installed between 34-38″ above ramps or stair surfaces. For ramps, handrails may be required on both sides if the rise exceeds 6″ or the run exceeds 72″. With square designs (when allowed) the edges must be rounded; often round stainless steel handrails are utilized. An awesome ADA railing will meet code but also complement the space.
